"You will be audition for MPYO Principal Conductor, Kevin Field as well as musicians from the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. You will be selected and seated by musical ability, although considerations may be made to ensure that the MPYO represents Malaysia ’s youth with a variety of ages, experience and personalities. Please note that all panel decisions are final and no correspondence regarding the decisions will be entertained.Your audition will last approximately 15 minutes and it may be recorded. For your audition, you will be asked to prepare for and perform:

The total time for performing both pieces should be no longer than 6 minutes. Please bring two sets of your music to the audition, one for you and one for the panel.
Percussionists: You will be required to perform an unaccompanied solo of your own choice in each of the following:
- Mallet keyboard instruments (either xylophone, vibraphone or marimba)
- Snare drum
- Timpani
The total time for performing all three pieces should be no longer than 6 minutes.
Wind and Brass players: If you are auditioning for instrument doublings, select only one unaccompanied solo for each instrument. Again, the total performance time should not exceed 6 minutes.

2. Orchestral excerpts which will be selected by MPYO and mailed to you prior to your audition.

3. Sight reading at the discretion of the panel."
